As baixas temperaturas na região Sudeste do Brasil despertaram especulações entre os investidores ontem sobre o risco de uma geada atingir os cafezais da principal região produtora de arábica do país.Com isso, os contratos com vencimentos em dezembro fecharam a US$1,4640 a libra-peso na bolsa de Nova York, avanço de 480 pontos. As previsões atuais não apontam a formação de geada, mas as temperaturas podem cair ainda mais, o suficiente para manter alguma cautela entre os produtores.

A massa de ar polar no Sul e Sudeste do Brasil está perdendo intensidade. As chuvas no final de semana favoreceram a abertura de floradas no cinturão produtivo do Brasil. Porém, o tempo deve ficar mais quente e seco a partir da segunda metade desta semana.

Low temperatures in the Southeast of Brazil aroused speculation among investors yesterday about the risk of a frost hitting the coffee plantations on the main Arabica producing regions of Brazil. The contracts due in December closed at US$ 1.4640 per pound at the New York stock exchange, advancing 480 points. Current forecasts haven´t pointed the formation of frost, but temperatures may fall even more, enough to keep some caution among producers.
